Who we are
ManageTyping (managetyping.com) is run by Managenow Limited (trading as ManageTyping), company number CRO 724246, registered office 83 Castlecurragh Heath, Mulhuddart, Dublin 15, D15 T3P6, Ireland. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For anything in this notice, write to office@managetyping.com or see our Contact page.
What we collect and why
Account details. Your name and email address, collected through Firebase Authentication when you sign up (or taken from your Google account if you sign in with Google). We never see or store your password. We use this to run your account and to contact you about it.
Age confirmation. When you first sign in we ask whether the learner is 16 or older. For a learner under 16 we also record the parent or guardian's name and email address, the date and time of their consent, and the version of this notice they agreed to. We use it to show that a parent or guardian agreed.
Learning progress. Lessons completed, each attempt (words per minute, accuracy, stars, time, and what was typed), streaks, badges, your best typing-test results, and the name you choose to show on certificates. We use this to save your progress across devices and to produce your dashboard, reports and certificates.
Subscription. Your plan, whether a subscription is active, its billing interval, renewal date and whether it is set to cancel, and a reference to your Stripe customer and subscription records. We use this to give you access and to deal with billing questions. We never see or store your card details.
On your own device. Some progress and settings are kept in your browser's local storage, not on our servers: progress in the For Kids games and Quest, keyboard-guide and sound preferences, and cached lesson content. Clearing your browser data removes them. The site sets no cookies of its own; signing in uses Firebase, which keeps your session in your browser's storage.
Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies, without a persistent identifier and without tracking you across other sites.
We do not run advertising, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell your personal data.
Our legal basis
We use your account and progress data to provide the service you asked for (contract). We keep billing records because the law requires us to (legal obligation). We use basic analytics to keep the site working and improve it (legitimate interests). For learners under 16, we rely on the consent of a parent or guardian.
Who processes it for us
- Google (Firebase) — authentication and the database holding your account and progress.
- Vercel — hosting, and cookieless analytics.
- Stripe — payments. Stripe collects and stores your card details directly; they never reach us.
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account data within 30 days. We keep billing records for 6 years, because Irish tax law requires it.
Children
Many learners on ManageTyping are children. If you are under 16, you may use ManageTyping only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and any payment must be made by an adult. That is why we ask for a parent or guardian's name, email and agreement the first time a learner under 16 signs in. We use a child's data only to run their account and show their progress. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not share it except with the processors listed above.
A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to show, correct, export or delete their child's data, or withdraw their consent, by writing to office@managetyping.com. If consent is withdrawn, the account can no longer be used and the data is deleted as described above. If we learn that a child under 16 has an account without a parent's or guardian's consent, we may suspend it until consent is given.
Your rights
Under data protection law (GDPR) you can ask us to give you access to your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or give you a copy in a portable format. You can object to our use of it, and where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Write to office@managetyping.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (Ireland) at dataprotection.ie, or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Security
Access to your data is restricted by Firestore security rules, so you can read and change only your own records. Data is encrypted in transit, and payment details are handled only by Stripe.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change matters for children's data, we will ask for fresh consent where the law requires it.
